"Danny" |
|
Danny was Rockin K's first quality Australian Shepherd.
Everything planned or attempted with him was accomplished.
He went through the Conformation Show Ring, completed his Obedience
and worked as a Stock Dog through out his life. He is the foundation
dog for Rockin K Kennel. He is greatly missed and will never be
forgotten by any of us, especially as we witness his offspring as they
grow.
It only took him a short time to complete his championship. I then took Danny through obedience, which I had never done before. We went through a 6 week class, finishing at the top on graduation night. First show two weeks later he obtained his 1st leg and at the next show came the 2nd leg. The third show a dog busted on the long down and Danny sat up to see what was going on, but the forth time out he got his 3rd leg and was High In Trial for the day with a score of 197. From there we decided to work stock, also a new venture for me. I started out working Danny in the round pen where we train our horses and began to drive the sheep in a circle. Danny immediately caught on to what he was to accomplish and was quick to accommodate what I asked of him. He finished his Started Trial Dog degree on sheep rapidly and received 1 leg on Started Cattle and 1 leg on Started Ducks. Danny preferred to work sheep and his love for them showed. He would go to the pen were we kept the sheep and just lay there with them. The ewes would come to him and lay side by side and when they would lamb, they would allow him to help clean them. Danny was my guardian, with the sweetest tender love for me. He showed his loyalty to me many times, but never so whole heartedly as he did one afternoon. He saved me, truly, from harms way of a raving 900 lb. colt. Danny was on a down stay about 75 feet safely away. The vet had sedated the colt to perform castration surgery, with me at the colts head and someone at the colts legs. An unexpected reaction occurred in the colt to the medicine and he came up fighting. I was thrown down in front of the colt & flying over to rescue me was Danny. He jumped into the colt, knocking him away from me. He then stayed between me and the colt, covering my body from danger with his own for protection. The vet was visibly shaken and the guy at the colts hind leg sustained a broken leg. I didn't get a single scratch out of the whole ordeal. Danny was my true "Hero"! Danny instilled those qualities that I loved so much in his children. I see a part of Danny in each puppy that is born from sons, daughters or grandchildren whelped here at Rockin K Kennel. From our hearts to your home, we provide the love that Danny possessed and shared every day of his life here with me.
Danny was a dog that could clean a baby lamb with the gentlest touch and
then protect me from a drugged out raving colt. He spent days and
nights as my faithful companion and is my idea of what an aussie is
suppose to be. I strive to raise this kind of dog at Rockin K
Kennel. Aussies from my home are
first to love their
families, be
gentle and kind with them and last but certainly not least to protect them
when necessary. Not forgetting their conformation is to be correct
and they are to be sound in mind & body and are still very capable of
doing what they are bred to do....work stock. That is a true Aussie. Pedigree |
